Abstract : Multiple regression analysis was applied to leaf nutrient concentrations and tree quality indices (TQIs) derived from 30 adjacent trees in a Tommy Atkins mango orchard in the Tzaneen area of South Africa. Statistically significant reductions in the TQI-variation occurred when constants were fitted for the leaf phosphorus and zinc concentrations. As the constants were positive, it was concluded that the application of phosphorus and zinc will generally increase the TQIs of the trees.
