Induction of flowering in 'off' year mango Cv. Alphonso as influenced by chemicals and growth regulators.

Abstract : Studies were conducted to study the effect of soil drenching with paclobutrazol (10 ml/tree) and foliar sprays of urea (1%), potassium nitrate (1%), ethrel [ethephon] (200 ppm), NAA (20 ppm) and mepiquat chloride (5000 ppm) on the induction of flowering in off-year mango cv. Alphonso at Coimbatore. All treatments increased flower number per panicle, with the soil paclobutrazol drench having the greatest effect.
