Abstract : A survey was conducted during May 1994 in the Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra to study the leaf nutritional status of Alphonso mango. The norms for classifying the leaf nutrient status were developed using the diagnosis and recommendation integrated system. The optimum N ranged from 0.77 to 1.65%, P from 22.4 to 33.6 mg%, K from 0.77 to 1.73%, Ca from 0.76 to 1.63%, S from 35 to 131 mg%, Fe from 657 to 961 ppm, Mn from 13 to 408 ppm, Zn 7.71 to 18.3 ppm and Cu 14.3 to 17.8 ppm. The plant Mg content was low in all the orchards surveyed. A yield level from 5.4 to 7.4 t/ha was possible for Alphonso mango when soil nutrients were in the optimum range.
