Irradiation may solve weevil problem.

Abstract : In studies on the control of nut weevils [Sternochetus mangiferae] of mangoes irradiation at 50 krad applied at the pupal or larval stages resulted in 100% mortality. When applied during the adult beetle stage, however, mortality was only about 30%; a dosage of 75 krad resulted in 50% mortality, but emergence of the beetle from the seed was negligible. The shelf-life of the fruit was also slightly extended by irradiation.
