Abstract : The effect of grafting method (veneer or soft wood) on the survival of mango cv. Langra scions (6 months old) grafted on 1-year-old seedling rootstocks was investigated. Scions were defoliated 4, 8 and 12 days before harvest, and were stored for 3, 5 or 7 days before grafting. Defoliation and storage reduced the time taken to complete graft union, promoted grafting success and promoted survival compared with the control. The best results were obtained from scions which were defoliated 8 days before harvest, then stored for 3 days.
