Abstract : Mango seeds were either sown direct into seedbeds or else pre-germinated and transplanted after cutting the tap-roots, and when 8-18 months old the seedlings were grafted with undefoliated scions 7.5, 15.0 or 22.5 cm long. Transplanting resulted in 92% survival, compared with 77% for direct sowing, and the development of a more fibrous root system, but direct-sown seedlings were taller. Scions 7.5 cm long were the most satisfactory and grafting in March/April or June-October gave the best results.
