Abstract : In a field experiment in 1994-96 in Andhra Pradesh, mango cv. Kesar was soil drenched with paclobutrazol (1.5, 3.0 or 6.0 g a.i./tree) and received foliar application of 750, 1500 and 3000 ppm cycocel [chlormequat]. The application of 6.0 g a.i. paclobutrazol was most effective in suppressing the tree growth, showing different growth contributing characters. Both paclobutrazol and cycocel increased the flowering to varying degree. Drenching with 3.0 g a.i. paclobutrazol was most effective in controlling the tree vigour as well as inducing flowering and fruiting in young trees.
