Abstract : Volatile oil constituents from mango fruits grown in India were analysed by GC and GC-MS. The principal monoterpene was ?-pinene, followed by ?-terpineol, ?-copaene and limonene-verbenone. The essential oil contained about 15 sesquiterpene hydrocarbons and 3-epoxides. The prominent sesquiterpene was caryophyllene epoxide, followed by humulene epoxide and ?-selinene. The essential oil also contained 3 aliphatic alcohols and 5 carbonyl components.
