Abstract : Phenamiphos [fenamiphos] and ethoprop [prophos] were effective against Tylenchulus semipenetrans in citrus but DBCP [1,2-dibromo-3-chloropropane] gave the best yield increases. Although numerous nematodes infested mango, fumigation did not increase yields. Litchi trees responded well to fumigation with DBCP for control of Hemicriconemoides mangiferae and Xiphinema brevicolle. Meloidogyne javanica was also recently recorded in litchi. Pawpaw and passion fruit (Passiflora edulis and P. edulis f. flavicarpa) seedbeds fumigated with methyl bromide produced excellent results. Preplanting fumigation, especially with ethoprop, markedly increased the yield of granadillas [Passiflora sp.]. Banana research was concerned with determining alternate hosts of Radopholus similis and on control measures. Pineapple nematodes were controlled with dips and with post-planting nematicides such as oxamyl and phenamiphos.ADDITIONAL ABSTRACT:Yield increases have followed the use of various nematicides on a variety of crops in the presence of several plant-parasitic nematodes.
