Abstract : This review considers the objectives, methods and constraints of plant breeding for the following crops: mango, citrus, guava, sapota [Manilkara zapota], litchi, ber [Ziziphus mauritiana], pomegranate, aonla [Phyllanthus emblica], bael [Aegle marmelos], anona [Annona], fig, jamun [Syzygium cumini], apple, pear, peach, plum, apricot, almonds, walnut, coconut, arecanut, oil palm, cashew, cocoa, nutmeg, clove, cinnamon (Cinnamomum) and cassia (C. cassia [C. aromaticum]).
