Abstract : In the lower regions of Himachal Pradesh the average incidence of larvae of the mango shoot borer, Chlumetia transversa Walker, varied between 66 and 100% in different cultivars of mango being minimum (49%) in cv. Totapuri. In control trials, monocrotophos (0.036%), phosphamidon (0.03%) and neem oil (1.0%) were found to be effective insecticides in a 2-year study, resulting in 92-100% reduction in pest infestation.
