Abstract : The effect of foliar sprays of NAA on the control of fruit drop, anthracnose disease, yield and quality characteristics of mango were studied. Four 8-year-old mango trees of cv. Lata Bombay were sprayed with 20, 30 and 40 ppm NAA separately in the 4th week after fruit set. The plants were sprayed three times at 30-day intervals. Control trees were sprayed with water only. Maximum percentage fruit set and fruit retention and minimum fruit drop were otained with 20 ppm NAA. This treament delayed maturity by 6-8 days, improved the size and yield and minimized the disease incidence. Application of 20 ppm NAA significantly increased the keeping quality and moisture retention, delayed ripening and decreased spoilage.
