Abstract : Ten mango cultivars (Rumani, Sappatai, Peter, Malgoa, Baneshan, Neelum, Panchavarnam, Bangalora, Imam Pasand, Senthura) were evaluated for their susceptibility to the bud mite, A. mangiferae in Tamil Nadu, India during March-May 1997. In addition, the efficacy of monocrotophos (0.07%), sulfur (0.02%), dicofol (0.03%), neem oil (3.0%) and neem seed extract (10%) against A. manigferae were evaluated on the susceptible cultivar Rumani. Rumani, Sappattai, Peter and Neelum had more mites (74 mites/leaf) than Malgoa (2.0/leaf), Baneshan (8.7) and Bangalora (9.7). Dicofol at 0.03% recorded a minimum of 10.1 mites/bud, resulting in 64.3% reduction compared to the control followed by monocrotophos at 0.07% (57.5%) and neem seed extract at 10% (53.7%) whereas, neem oil at 3.0% was least effective (32%).
