Abstract : The seasonal incidence and chemical control (dicofol (0.07%), sulfur (0.02%), endosulfan (0.07%), neem oil (3%) and neem seed extract (10%)) of the leaf mite, C. kenyae [Cisaberoptus kenyae] on mango cultivars Neelum, Bangalora, Malgoa, Rumani and Sappattai was investigated in Tamil Nadu, India during December 1995-May 1997. The occurrence of the leaf mite was continuous on Malgoa and Rumani throughout the study period, whereas in Neelum, Bangalora and Sappattai, the occurrence was not noticed between the months of August 1996-May 1997. A similar trend was observed on the infestation of the mite. Among the treatments, neem seed kernel extract (10%) recorded the lowest number of mites (6.9 mites/square inch area) with 54.3% reduction than that of the control followed by dicofol 0.03% (39.1%), endosulfan 0.07% (33.1%), wettable sulfur 0.02% (25.8%) and neem oil 3.0% (21.9%) after two rounds of spray.
