Abstract : The effect of B on flowering, embryo development and yield of mangoes (cultivars Sannianmang, Neelum and Macheso) was investigated in Yunnan Province, China. The results showed that when B concentration in leaves was 4-14 mg/kg, trees showed no symptoms of B deficiency, but did exhibit reduced fruit set. The response of trees to B varied according to cultivar. When B concentration in leaves was 4 mg/kg, yield was markedly reduced. Yield of Sannianmang fluctuated more obviously than the other 2 cultivars with changes in B concentration. When leaf B concentration was 14 mg/kg, soil application of B and foliar application during flowering increased fruit set and yield.
