Abstract : Both polyembryonic and monoembryonic mango (Mangifera indica) cultivars are commercially grown in Taiwan. Tsar-swain and Irwin are the two leading ones comprising about 80% of the total production area. The planted area and total production were 21?110 hectares and 202 thousand tonnes, respectively, in 1996. The average yield per tree was 27 kg. Most of the fruits were consumed domestically. Only 1.2% of the total production was exported in 1996. Important cultural practices and methods used for increasing yield and regulating the production seasons are outlined.
