Abstract : Surveys carried out during 1971-73 showed that the distribution of Anastrepha obliqua (Macq.) (mombinpraeoptans Sein) in the Lesser Antilles and Trinidad was discontinuous. Although the fly was present on St. Kitts, Nevis, Montserrat, Guadeloupe, Dominica, Martinique, St. Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, it was not detected on Antigua, Barbados, St. Vincent, Grenada and Carriacou. The fact that international airports exist on some of the latter islands may account for existence of interception records of the pest there by the United States Department of Agriculture, the infested fruit probably originating from neighbouring islands.
