Abstract : Five methods of protecting the graft union (with paraffin, paraffin + vaseline, beeswax, parafilm or PVC film) were assessed using Tommy Atkins scions grafted onto Espada rootstocks. Grafting success after 60 days was similar with PVC film and parafilm treatments and in control plants which had the graft union covered with a plastic bag (40.60%, 56.62% and 48.33%, respectively). Grafting success was low in all other treatments (10%).
