Abstract : Hot water treatment at 53 deg for 10 min had no apparent effect on appearance and eating quality of Carabao and Pico mangoes and effectively inhibited anthracnose development on fruits inoculated with Colletotrichum gloeosporioides [Glomerella cingulata] 3 days earlier. Rotting was also significantly reduced in naturally infected fruits similarly treated, although such treatment reduced the natural lustre of fruits and injured lenticels, as did soaking at room temp.
