Abstract : Some morphological, cultural and biochemical characters of the bacterium were studied and compared with those of Pseudomonas andropogonis and Xanthomonas spp. (campestris group). P. mangiferae-indicae is considered to be an unpigmented form of X. The bacterium (white str.) is redescribed and (i) X. mangiferae-indicae or (ii) X. campestris f.sp. mangiferae-indicae is suggested as the new name, the 2nd if Lelliott's scheme for the taxonomy of X. is accepted [RPP 51, 3715h].
