Abstract : Ethanol extracts of flowers of Carica papaya, leaves of Barringtonia macrostachya, fruit skin of Mangifera indica and leaves of Eugenia polyantha showed antitumour promoting activity in the Epstein-Barr virus activation assay. Immunoblotting analysis of Raji cells carrying the Epstein-Barr virus genome against human sera of nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients positive for early antigens diffuse and early antigens restricted polypeptides indicated that the plant extracts suppressed these antigens.
