Abstract : From the steam-distilled volatile isolates of the fruits of Mangifera indica cultivar Safeda, 50 components (ca. 89.73%) were identified. The isolate contained high concentration of sesquiterpenes (ca. 51.08%). The predominant sesquiterpene was caryophyllene oxide (15.0%) followed by ?-selinene (13.16%), humulene epoxide (8.0%), trans-caryophyllene (2.69%), ?-humulene (1.91%) and ?-gurjunene (1.44%). Only four monoterpenes, comprising 3.68% of the volatile oil, could be identified as ?-pinene (3.88%), trans-ocimene (1.75%), ?-myrcene and cis-ocimene.
