Abstract : The seasonal abundance of C. dorsata on mango trees and the influence of climatic factors (maximum and minimum temperatures, and relative humidity) on insect pest occurrence were investigated in a field in Egypt, in 1997 and 1998. New exit holes of emerged beetles were marked and recorded at 2-week intervals. The beetle occurred throughout the period from the second half of March until the first half of October. Two peaks of beetle activity were recorded annually, during the first half of May and second half of June in 1997, and during the first half of April and the first half of August in 1998. A significant correlation between the number of emerged beetles and all climatic factors was observed during the first occurrence in 1997, while the correlation was only significant with maximum and minimum temperatures during the second occurrence in 1998. The climatic factors did not affect beetle emergence during the second occurrence in 1997 and the first occurrence in 1998.
