Effect of foliar spray of urea on flowering and fruiting characters of three cultivars of mango.

Abstract : Four concentrations of urea (0-6%) were sprayed for two years in August and December on 8 and 10-month-old shoots of three varieties. The duration of flowering was reduced, Langra being least affected and Totapari most. Panicle length, number of secondary branches per panicle, fruit set per panicle and fruit drop per panicle increased with concentrations up to 4-6% urea, Langra showing the greatest increase in all of these traits. The sex ratio of the varieties remained unaffected by urea applications.
