Abstract : The material on which this bibliography is based was originally collected at the request of the FAO. The bibliography covers the harvesting and subsequent handling of mango fruit (Mangifera indica L.). It does not cover horticultural practices and marketing is not comprehensively covered. The references are grouped for convenience into a series of chapters, each prefaced with an introductory commentary and including a list of references arranged in alphabetical order of authors. For each reference the full title is given followed in most cases by an indication of the contents. The lists were prepared from an exhaustive survey of the literature published since 1960, although some pertinent references from earlier dates are included. Whilst some selection of references has been made, no extensive elimination or evaluation of work has been attempted. In general, references are in English, unless otherwise stated. Some references are quoted under more than one heading, whereas other references (often reviews) relevant to more than one heading are given in the initial book and review list, or in the list of reviews on processing.ADDITIONAL ABSTRACT:A comprehensive list of references, covering the following aspects: harvesting and distribution; storage and ripening; storage disorders and diseases; the use of irradiation in fruit storage technology; composition; flavour; preservation; processing and preservation of pulp; by-products; and marketing aspects.
