Abstract : The effect of mancozeb and iprodione on the control of mango stem-end rot (caused by Botryodiplodia theobromae) was studied in the laboratory. Mature green hard mangoes when dipped for three minutes in heated (50°C) aqueous solutions of mancozeb (3g a.i./l) and iprodione (0.5 and 0.75g (a.i./l)) gave excellent control of stem-end rot infections. No sign or symptoms developed either in storage or during ripening and afterwards. Mancozeb and iprodione (0.75g (a.i./l)) treated fruits were 100% marketable. Residue levels of mancozeb and iprodione were within the recommended Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) for related stone fruits. Some 85% of the total mancozeb residues were found in the peel.
