Abstract : The vegetative, floral and fruit characteristics of 10 mango hybrids (Amparali, Mallika, Ratna, Mahmood Bahar, Prabhar Shankar, Neelgoa, Neeleeshan, Neeludin, A.U. Rumani and Swarnajahangir) and the control cultivars Benishan and Totapuri were evaluated in Andhra Pradesh, India during 1996-98. Panicle length and breadth were highest for Amparali. Ratna, Mahmood Bahar and Swarnakahangir recorded the highest number of male flowers per panicle, fruits per panicle, and male:hermaphrodite ratio, respectively. Neeludin exhibited the highest number of fruits (91.5) and yield (15.35 kg) per tree. The longest fruit (10.70 cm), and the highest stone weight (20%) and total soluble solids (28), were observed in Amparali. Pulp weight (78.1%) was highest in Mahmood Bahar, while Prabha Shankar showed the highest stone (20%) and peel (17.5%) weight. Among the hybrids, A.U. Rumani obtained the highest fruit weight (285 g) and fruit breadth (7.95 cm).
