Abstract : The effect of various treatments (fungicide sprays, pruning, pruning + fungicide sprays) on anthracnose (C. gloeosporoides [Glomerella cingulata])-infected mangoes (M. indica) was investigated in Magdalena, Colombia during 1993-95. The parameters tested were disease incidence and severity, percent healthy fruits, percent fruit trading, cost, cost benefit relationship and production value. The traditional treatment with pruning decreased disease incidence and severity by 15 and 10%, respectively, and increased healthy fruits and fruit trading by 4 and 5%, respectively. The new technology consisting of fungicide sprays during flowering and 50% fruit maturity resulted to disease incidence and severity equal or smaller to the traditional treatment. Furthermore, healthy fruits percentage, fruit trading percentage and production value were equal or higher than the traditional treatment. In addition, the cost per hectare was reduced to $200?000 and the cost benefit relationship increased to more than 7.0.
