Abstract : A survey of the major bacterial diseases of forest nurseries of Madhya Pradesh, India was carried out during the rainy seasons of 1989-93. One-year-old plants of neem [Azadirachta indica], caronda [Carissa carandas] and mango showing initial signs of infection were examined. Disease characterization and morphological analysis revealed the identity of the causal agents: Xanthomonas campestris pv. azadirachtae causes bacterial leaf spot and blight of neem, X. campestris pv. carissae causes bacterial canker of caronda, and X. campestris pv. mangiferaindicae causes bacterial leaf spot in mango.
