Abstract : This paper presents a brief account of the main chemical constituents and therapeutic significance of seeds of 287 angiosperm species that are frequently used in the Indian systems of medicine. Included in the list are: Abelmoschus esculentus, A. moschatus, Alpinia galanga, Annona squamosa, Mangifera indica, Nelumbo nucifera, Ocimum basilicum and Sorghum vulgare [S. bicolor].
