Abstract : The allelopathic effects of guava, mango, lemon and papaya [pawpaw] leaf extracts on the emergence and seedling vigour of Lathyrus sativus cv. Biol-212 were investigated during January 2000. L. sativus seeds were soaked in the extracts for 24 h and then sown in pots. Guava and mango extracts had the highest inhibitory effects on seedling emergence and growth. Lemon and papaya extracts did not have any inhibitory allelopathic effects on L. sativus seeds.
