Abstract : Bacterial stem canker and fruit rot, caused by E. mangifera and E. carotovora, are among the important diseases of mangoes in Venezuela, which mainly affects the commercial cultivars Haden, Tommy Atkins, and Manzano. A trial was conducted to evaluate the effect of four chemical treatments for the control of the disease in mango fruits. The experimental plot was located in a commercial mango plantation in the Valencia Lake basin, Venezuela, with an elevated disease severity. Starting at bloom, six foliar sprays (at two weeks intervals) were applied to five trees selected for each treatment, including the control. The following products were used: Agrimycin 17 [streptomycin], Cuprimycin 500, Phyton-27 [copper sulfate], and Covinex Forte. Fruit damage levels were evaluated using a scale of 3 severity grades. The best results were obtained with Cuprimycin 500 (6 g/litre), with the lowest proportion of fruits affected with disease severity grade 3.
