Abstract : The effect of the interaction between the cultivar and rootstock on plant height, productivity and fruit quality was evaluated for mangoes in Brazil. The cultivars used were Tommy Atkins, Haden, Winter and Van Dyke, with the rootstocks Mallika, Santa Alexandrina,Extrema, Imperial, Maca, Comum and Rosinha. There was a significant effect of the interaction between the cultivar and rootstock on plant height for 6.5-year-old trees. There was no significant difference between height for the cultivars. The effect of cultivar on plant height was independent of that of rootstock for 8-year-old plants, with Haden being significantly taller than the other cultivars. There was no significant difference between rootstocks. Rootstock had a significant effect on productivity for 7-year-old plants with all 4 cultivars.
