Abstract : Bioassays were carried out to evaluate the effects of various plant extracts on phytopathogenic bacteria of mango, pawpaw, banana and sunflower. No inhibition of growth of Pseudomonas syringae pv. helianthi was observed with the plant extracts, and only slight inhibition of Erwinia mangiferae. However, extract of Melicocca bijuga inhibited growth of Pseudomonas sp. A bactericidal effect was observed for Erwinia sp. with extract of Ruellia tuberosa.
