Abstract : One hundred and fifty-four mango cultivars were evaluated for their productivity (tree height upon reaching maturity and fruit-bearing index) and fruit quality (including average weight, shape of fruit, colour and texture of pulp, colour of shell and fruit covering, and fibre content). A scale of 1-3 was used for the various attributes, where 1=inadequate, 2=intermediate and 3=adequate. Results showed that 23 cultivars had average values between 2.23 and 2.58. Haden, Kent, Irwin, Davis-Haden and Tommy Atkins, which were selected in Florida and are now found worldwide, and Araque and Rangel, found in Venezuela, are some of the cultivars selected for their superior quality.
