Abstract : In 2-year trials Gaurjeet mango fruits were sprayed at the pea stage with GA, NAA or fenoprop, each at 50, 100 and 250 p.p.m. and picked when the colour changed from dark green to light yellowish green. Fruit ripening was accelerated by all treatments, a reduction of 9 days in time to maturity, compared with unsprayed controls, being obtained with fenoprop at 250 p.p.m. Data are also presented on the fruit size and chemical composition of the ripe fruits. Fruit size was enhanced by GA at 100 p.p.m. Fruit quality was improved by all treatments, the best results being obtained with fenoprop at 250 p.p.m.
