Abstract : B. dorsalis completed five overlapping generations per year in Hekou County, Yunnan, China. The peak of occurrence was observed from May to August. Larvae of the 2nd and 3rd generation of B. dorsalis caused serious damage to local fruits and vegetables. At 18-30°C in the laboratory, the peak of adult emergence occurred during 9.00-10.00 h. The duration of egg, larval and pupal stages decreased in increasing temperature. Adults were usually found feeding on selected juices of ripe mango fruits. The main strategies used for the control of this pest are discussed.
