Abstract : Radioactive P was used to study P translocation in the leaves and fruits of grapevines, cv. Pusa Seedless, 2, 5 and 7 weeks after anthesis (corresponding to the pre-lag, lag and post-lag phases, respectively,) and of mangoes (cv. Dashehari) that were either self-pollinated or cross-pollinated. With grapevines leaf P contents declined during the lag phase and subsequently rose, whereas fruit P contents declined throughout the 5-week period. With mangoes P contents were higher in cross-pollinated fruits (14 and 21 days old) and associated leaves. In cross-pollinated fruits P contents rose at the second sampling but declined in self-pollinated fruits and in both sets of leaves.
