Abstract : A pictorial key, with its respective glossary of terms, for separating the major fruit pest species of the genus Anastrepha in Venezuela is presented: Anastrepha striata in guava; Anastrepha fraterculus in peach, mango, mombin plum (Spondias mombin) and other fruits; Anastrepha obliqua in mango and mombin plum; and Anastrepha serpentina in naseberry (Achras zapota [Manilkara zapota]), star apple and other Sapotaceae. Species considered as potential pests are also included: Anastrepha pickeli and Anastrepha manihoti in cassava; Anastrepha grandis in squash; and Anastrepha limae in passion fruit. Diagnostic characters are described for each species and host plant information is reviewed.
