Abstract : Fruits of Langra and Dashehari mango cvs were tagged immediately after fruit set and picked at weekly intervals from 19 May to 3 July and their lenticel characteristics and palatability after artificial ripening were assessed. With Dashehari lenticel numbers/unit area declined with increasing fruit maturity, but with Langra they remained fairly constant. With both cvs enhanced palatability was associated with later picking, and was accompanied by a change in lenticel colour from creamy white to brown.
