Abstract : In experiments conducted in Spão Paulo, Brazil, 0, 2.5 and 5% calcium chloride was applied 40, 60 and 90 days after anthesis. TEM was used to study cell wall ultrastructure immediately after harvest and 35 days after storage. The results showed that calcium chloride had a beneficial effect on fruit preservation in storage and that the middle lamella structure was best preserved with 5% calcium chloride.
