Abstract : A field experiment was conducted in Sabour, Bihar, India, in 1997 and 1998 to study the effects of cultar (paclobutrazol) on mango cv. Langra. Cultar, applied either by spraying at 500, 1000, or 2000 ppm or by soil line pour method at 5 or 10 g a.i./tree in September, reduced the length of terminal shoots and induced profuse flowering over the control (water spray and water trunk soil line pour method). Soil treatment was more effective than foliar spraying of cultan in enhancing flowering and yield. In both years, soil treatment with 5 g a.i./tree gave the highest percentage of flowering shoots, fruit set, fruit yield, and fruit total soluble solid, reducing sugar, total sugar, and ascorbic acid contents.
