Abstract : This paper presents results of previous experiments and reviews the molecular distinction between alternative oxidase from monocots and dicots. Data analysis showed that while Aox2 is present in many eudicots including soyabean, mango, tobacco, tomato and Arabidopsis thaliana, but is absent in all monocots examined to date.
