Abstract : Three years of evaluating the productivity and fruit characteristics of 8 mango varieties proved that Aiwin, Julu, Tainong 1 and Haiton could be recommended for commercial growing in the dry and hot valley of the Panzhihua area, Sichuan, China. These varieties showed a long shelf life. The fruits of Tainong 1 have a soluble solids content of 23.4%, an ascorbic acid level of 201 µg/g and a rich aromatic flavour. Jilu obtained the highest ascorbic acid level (283 µg/g).
