Screening of mango cultivars against the leaf webber, Orthaga exvinacea Hampson (Pyralidae: Lepidoptera).

Abstract : Ten mango genotypes (Bangalora, Swarna Jahangeer, Jahangeer, Mangifera odorata, Alphanso, Neelum, Banesham, Himayuddin, Panchadarakalasa × Willard and Neeleshan) were evaluated for resistance to O. exvinacea in Andhra Pradesh, India, during October-November 1999. Cultivars Neelum, Swarna Jahangeer and Himayuddin were resistant to the pest, cultivars Bangalora and Panchadarakalasa × Willard were highly susceptible. Total phenols, reducing sugars and chlorophyll contents were higher in resistant than susceptible cultivars.
