Abstract : The EARS-Plant Photosynthesis Meter was used to determine the gross photosynthesis in the leaves of 'Cat Hoa Loc' mango (M. indica) and 'Nam Roi' pummelo (C. grandis [C. maxima]) grown, respectively, in the provinces of Can Tho and Vinh Long, in Vietnam, during the rainy season of 2000. The calculated gross photosynthesis of 'Cat Hoa Loc' mango leaves was higher at the flowering stage than at the vegetative stage. However, the photosynthetically active radiation and quantum yield of 'Cat Hoa Loc' mango leaves at both stages did not reach the light saturation point when compared with values from the estimated equation of the photosynthetic light curve. Similar observations were recorded for 'Nam Roi' pummelo at the vegetative stage.
