Abstract : Mango fruits of 27 clones and varieties from the germplasm bank of the National Agricultural Research Centre (CENIAP) in Maracay, Venezuela, were harvested at physiological ripening stage. The quality was evaluated in terms of the crop sensitivity to low temperatures. There were no quality differences between fruits stored 10 days at 5°C and those ripened since the beginning at environmental conditions (24±3°C). However, those fruits treated with low temperatures reached earlier consumption quality. On the other hand, notorious differences were found in fruit quality among the 27 cultivars. Keitt and Kent showed the highest sugar contents, Springfels the highest weight, and Edward the highest vitamin C [ascorbic acid] content.
