Proteolytic enzyme changes in mango shoots as affected by growth retardants in relation to flowering.

Abstract : In 2-year studies Cycocel [chlormequat] and Alar [daminozide], each at 5000 p.p.m., were applied to selected branches of mango trees, cv. Mulgoa, at monthly intervals from May to December. The percentage of flowering shoots was increased by both growth substances. Shoot protein content declined from September to January, the decline being less marked in treated shoots; this was accompanied by a rise in leaf enzyme activity, which was less marked in treated leaves.
