Abstract : The trial included 3 cvs (Haden, Maya and Mabroka) grafted on 8 rootstocks (Sabre, Peach, Ruppin, Maya, Zill, 3.2, 12.1, 13.1). The soil of the orchard was heavy and moderately calcareous (about 20% CaCO3). Trickle irrigation was used, through which the trees were supplied with iron as Sequestrene 138 (50 g/tree/year). After 3 harvests (6 years after planting) the rootstock 13.1 was the best of all those tested, for all 3 cvs. The rootstock 12.1 excelled for cvs Haden and Maya but was mediocre for Mabroka. Maya and Ruppin were relatively good, Sabre was poor, and Peach was the worst rootstock. The yields of the Maya and Mabroka trees were much higher than those of the Haden trees.
