Flowering of mango cultivars from INIA-CENIAP collection.

Abstract : The initiation of flowering of Edward, Haden and another 129 cultivars of the National Center of Agricultural Research of Venezuela was established and related with rainfall and temperature regimes that preceded them during the annual production cycles of the period between 1998 and 2001. Flowering initiation was associated with the occurrence, during the 30 days that preceded, of an increment of the frequency of night temperatures ?20°C. They also suggest the existence of different requirements among cultivars, independently of their place of origin. During its occurrence, the presence of a dry period or scarce rainfall favoured the process.
